We're currently embarking on our third year, the final step to graduating. It's been a long, hard but mostly enjoyable adventure and we're looking forward to beginning our career in The Media.
As a part the course we have to complete a module called Practical Media Project. This involves finding a client who works in the industry, following their brief to complete set tasks with a professional attitude, using both research, planning and the skills we've accumulated over the last three years at university.
We also have to complete a personal development portfolio (PDP). This is basically a portfolio of work comprising written, visual or multi-media elements, accompanied by a CV and other materials such as a business card and a personal reflective report, which demonstrates our abilities and achievements. This will show future employers a sample of our media journey so far.
Whilst searching through the University Work Experience resource folder on the Unilearn we came across Adam and Steve who are looking to start a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for their new business, CatNav Live.
Their product is simply a GPS tracking system built in a collar for your cat. Why? Because surely you must wonder what your kitty gets up to all day?
The collar paired with the app allows for a fun, social network that lets you get to know your cat a little better and also find out what other cats in the neighbourhood are up too. It's a great way to chat with other cat owners and make some new cat-loving friends along the way.
We've decided to create this blog to act as a 'journal' to record all of our ideas, discussions in meetings and anything we have any input on regarding our media practical project.

Here is a little bit of information about us:
My name is Ellie Parker, I have been alive for twenty years and lived the majority of those in Leicester with my wonderful family.
Nearly 3 years ago, I moved to a little town called Huddersfield in West Yorkshire. It's pretty dark and bleak but in a beautiful way, most of the time.

I'm in my third year at Huddersfield University, studying Journalism, and I am really freaking out about this being my last year of the luxury that is student life.
I always wanted to go to University but never really knew which subject I wanted to pursue. Before deciding I wanted to study Journalism, I dabbled in the idea of Philosophy, Music, English Literature, Drama and Broadcast Journalism.
I still don't know what pushed me towards the media route but I just remember thinking: 'I'm going to be a Journalist'. So here I am, 3 years later and beginning my career in Journalism.
In the past two years at University I've struggled with my course, despite the fantastic tutors and resources. I didn't like that I wasn't allowed to write about things that I believed in.
I now realise that I have all this knowledge and skills from my time there and it's now my chance to go out there and discover, learn, teach, share my thoughts, learn again and live.
I'm an enthusiastic person that is always open to learning and gaining knowledge from others. I'm fascinated by Space and Nature, because how can you not be?
Some of my other interests include music, politics, philosophy, food and literature. I've been an ethical vegan for almost 2 years and have never felt better.
You can follow my Instagram where I post pictures of food, pictures of myself and anything else that interests me.

I've enjoyed writing since I was a little girl. I was one of those kids who attempted to keep a journal but only wrote in it when I remembered (which wasn't often). Nowadays, I spend my time running my blog and thankfully, I don't forget to write for that.
I started my blog back in 2012 as a way to express myself and share my love for beauty and makeup. It's come a long way since the early days and has developed into a lifestyle blog where I share my thoughts about: food, beauty, music, give reviews and tutorials and share my latest designs for my Etsy Shop that I own with my mum.

As a part of my blog, I maintain a twitter and Instagram account where I share blog posts and connect with people who share the same interests.

I chose to study media for my GSCE's and A Levels and I fell in love with the creative side of the course. My favourite part of any Media-based course is the practical elements. I just love creating a magazine from scratch or filming part of a documentary.
Over the years I've developed a love for popular culture and I find new technology and social networking exciting - probably because I enjoy talking to people so much - However, I think this has made it clear that I really want a career in Journalism after I graduate.
Nearly three years after starting university, I can see that I've come a long way since beginning the course. I've learnt so much, met so many amazing people and really grown up into my own person. I will always be thankful for the opportunity university has given me to really make something of myself in the media industry - even with £40,000 worth of debt.
