Logo Research: Competitor Brands

We’ve researched brands that specifically sell cat collars and GPS cat collars as they’re in our primary target market. After researching these brands it’s interesting to see the different logo approaches companies take. Some logos are colourful and reveal exactly what the company sells whilst other brands take a very simple approach.

Here is our brief analysis of competitor cat collar brands:

-        - Hard to link some logos with pet related products.

-        - Green, blue, red and black backgrounds stand out most compared to logos who use grey, brown and just black lettering.

-       -  In our opinion, some of the logos such as: Ancol, Salt Dog Studios and Track my cat look particularly old fashioned.

-        - Eden Pets have the most professional looking logo. In terms of a slick, eye catching design. It’s obvious that this business sells pet related products. The dog smiling connotes “good products that keep your pets happy”. However, the colours they’ve used are somewhat outdated and wouldn’t necessarily attract our target market.

-        - PUCHI seems to be more suited at females. Possibly in CatNav Live’s target market? However, baby pink is seen as an old-fashioned colour.

-       -  Brands don’t tend to feature actual images of animals.

-       -  Cool Cat studios are the only brand to include an image of a cat on their logo. Which is more eye catching than just text. Customers instantly know what type of company is about.

-        - The simple logos are more readable, however, but it makes it hard to tell what products they company actually sells, which makes it more difficult to create a strong brand identity.
