Steve asked us to create some logos to use for the company. We wanted to showcase the variety of logos we could create although we knew some of the logos didn't suit the brand identity. We created the logos using Adobe Indesign or Canva, the online design website made for creating anything print or web based. Here our some of our designs.
With these two logos we wanted to highlight the different fonts and colours we could use. We particularly like the white text paired with the mint green "live". We thought it looked very sleek and professional and actually suited our target audience. The mint green accent adds a modern touch and incorporates aspects of fun to the logo.
Steve and Adam particularly this design. They thought it looked contemporary and they liked the silhouette of the cat. Like us, they preferred the white and green font compared to the pink, which on reflection we thinks looks childish and unprofessional.
This logo was a simple design. The silhouette of the cat makes it obvious what the company is about, however Steve didn't like it because it didn't convey movement. The purple stands out nicely against a white background and could seen from afar. The font is informal compared to the cat which creates a nice balance between professionalism and creating a brand that creates a personal connection. Again, this logo was more of an example of the different styles in which a logo could be represented.
We liked the retro design of this logo, although we didn't think it stood out as a contender compared to other logos. Steve thought the text was weak and didn't stand up to the brand. On reflection, we agree. It looks more like a clothing store sign or a logo for a bar. Although, the little definition would mean there was no confusion with what the business is about. Adam made a good point that the semi circles appear similar to GPS tracking rays, which is very relevant to our product.
Although this logo contains a beautiful blue which would stand out compared to the competitor logos, we thought it wasn't smart enough to represent the brand. We love the colour and the font, but on hindsight it's not simplistic enough and not likely to stay in fashion compared to black and white logos which will always be classy.
This was Steve and Adams favourite logo. They loved the alignment of the text and the simplicity of the black font. We chose to use this particular image of a cat due to its character, which comes across as cheeky and ready to explore. The movement that the cat conveys is also very relevant and an aspect that Steve loved. We all made the decision to develop this logo further and were given pointers from Adam and Steve on how to improve it. You can see these revised designs here.
We made this logo with our target audience in mind, the taupe background brings a fashionable edge to the design and makes it stand out against the white background. The font is very dainty and home made which Steve did not like at all, he was very strong about how much he does not like this font, which we will take into account on any future projects! The image of the cat, on reflection, looks more like a fox which is not representative to the product at all.
Overall, we were both overwhelmed at how much Steve and Adam liked (the majority of) our designs .We had worked hard to produce them so it was wonderful to hear that our work had paid off so nicely. The overall direction for the logo is now simplicity and minimalism.
